Huge ping spikes at all times.

Hi there,

For the past 6-8 months I've been having awful lag spikes. We've had an engineer come over to do some tests and replace the superhub about 2 months ago claiming everything was okay.  I've set up the broadband monitor few days ago, these are the results:

Surely this can't be 'normal'. The packet loss spikes are where I reboot the hub. It helps a little to make it semi-usable for gaming or watching videos. Without a reboot every few hours I struggle to watch 480p videos on youtube, not to even mention trying to play an online game.

Re: Huge ping spikes at all times.

Just the super hub 1, so it's not the sh3 issue going around.

Same issue as this:

and any uploading or downloading going on to hit your upto limit will buffer your connection to the super hubs rate limiter.

Re: Huge ping spikes at all times.

So what do you recommend I do? Run in modem mode and buy a router? Like I said this never use to happen until recently.

Re: Huge ping spikes at all times.

You might never know things download and upload at random times loading a web page with a video ad can cause you to briefly buffer on your upto limit at the super hub.

You can test with one wired device and wireless disable on the super hub for testing if you want.

Re: Huge ping spikes at all times.

I only use wired on my PC. Other than that I have a phone connected to the wifi sitting idle most of the time. I've tried running it in modem mode with wifi disabled, it was still lagging.

Re: Huge ping spikes at all times.

Might be your PC then you can install NetWorx to view the bandwidth graph to see it spiking.

and even if you think your wireless device is idle disable the wireless on the super hub.

As I said here you have to reboot your super hub when in router mode you don't have to in modem mode.
