Horrible connection

Hiya, could some one check over my numbers because i am having such a unstable internet connection, one minute its fine then im lagging in games, dropping packets every where, when im on Skype one minute my call will be fine then it will drop and then it will come back just to drop again. Its very unstable and im fed up of it being this way. When i play a online game with my nephew who lives just a few roads away from me his internet connection will be fine but mine will keep going from the state of being fine to the state of being very lagy all of a sudden. The funny thing is when he was staying over during the summer holidays he was having this problem to while using our internet connection. We both have virgin media if that helps.

Re: Horrible connection

Not a lot wrong with your stats, the network logs would be handy.

Are you connected wired or wirelessly?

If wireless try wired.

You can get a better idea on how your connection is performing by starting a Broadband Quality Monitor HERE.

You will need to enable ICMP echo requests in the advanced settings of the hub.

Re: Horrible connection

Hi, I'm no expert on all the figures you posted, in fact it all looks like gibberish to me! But I am in a similar situation. My internet disconnects on average every 15 minutes.

In my experience, you are better just ringing 150 to report the fault and get an engineer out.

The forums can offer some good advice, however the picture I'm getting is that a lot of these are caused by faults on the infrastructure and not in your property.

Some of the forum team will at least be able to tell you if there is a fault ticket raised in your area.

Re: Horrible connection

Don't know if you've phoned them yet, but when I did, the call centre was UK based and had no problems talking to them.

Another tip is to have your equipment running while you're on the phone. As my fault is intermittent, they couldn't see anything initially. But I had my consoles and things running and just before the end of the call, it happened again, so they could then see that there was an issue after all.
