High ping from PC to Router, wired

Hi, I have recently switched from wireless to wire using a cat7 ethernet cable.I am getting full bandwidth 100mbit,however ,for some reason I am getting unusually high pings. When I open cmd and ping 192.168.0.1 I get ~7ms on average with spikes up to 150ms.It is the same on a different computer or even when using wifi.I tried different ports, restarting, disabling the firewall ,nothing makes a difference. I have the "Hub 3.0" since I joined VM 2 weeks ago.I need <1ms to router, please help.

Re: High ping from PC to Router, wired

why do you need 1ms to the router. if you are can you ping 8.8.8.8 and bbc.co.uk and see what ping times you get to that.

If the router is busy it wont prioritise the pings but it wont slow show the connection.

Re: High ping from PC to Router, wired

I need low latency because even 100ms completely ruins the experience in most online games. The only thing connected right now is my PC via cable,no internet activity

Re: High ping from PC to Router, wired

that looks about normal for pings to bbc from vm connections. Sure the router is not delaying packets leaving the network

Re: High ping from PC to Router, wired

There are some ping spikes, this is what happends when i ping the router. The same spikes are evident in the other pings i posted before too:

do you have another device you can test from to rule out the computer?

Re: High ping from PC to Router, wired

yes,I have another laptop with a different cable, the one that was supplied by VM. Same issue.I also turned the Hub into Modem mode only and plug it directly to my computer,no difference in pings.

Re: High ping from PC to Router, wired

Known issue with the Hub 3:

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Hub-3-Compal-CH7465-LG-TG2492LG-and-CGNV4-Latency...

"Hub 3 observations:

Like many others using a Puma 6/6MG modem, Hub 3 users are experiencing latency when they ping the modem, or ping a target outside of the home, game online or use low latency applications."

Re: High ping from PC to Router, wired

Hi parrot1553,

Thanks for getting in touch, I am sorry to see you have had trouble with high Ping.

I have taken a look and there are a few things going on.

Firstly I can see a little bit of an issue with slow speeds on the upstreams during peak times. I have popped that across to networks to investigate further. I will let you know once I know more.

Secondly your upstream power levels are also too high. I would like to get an engineer out to correct this for you. Keep an eye out for the Purple Envelope, top right hand corner.

Speak to you soon.
