Hardline Disconnect

This has been an ongoing issue for weeks and weeks for me now.

During the evennings - I keep getting kicked out of Battlefield Hardline servers between 8pm and 9pm.

I have a reference number for Support Staff given to me as part of the dozen+ calls I have had to make to Virgin. (Ref: 37744418 for those that read this at Tech Support).

I have had a new Super Hub 2 sent out and that helped a little - I had fewer kicks, but it has not cured the problem.

I have played Hardline in Modem mode, and still I got kicked, so back in Router mode because the family need the Wifi.

My  computer on which I play Hardline is wired by ethernet cable, and always has been.

The final line of action is for an engineer to come out to the box in the street but the support operator insists that would not happen (thanks then, not) and also suggested I video record the evenings so as to prove I am not making this up!

It only happens playing Battlefield, and it is occasionally so bad a loss of connection, that it kills Teamspeak as well as the game.

I have the maximum number of ports open in Port Forwarding for the game as well.

But it only happens playing Battlefield. Oh and my ping is between 15 and 40.

Steam games are perfectly fine, browsing is fine, YouTube etc, all fine. It's just Battlefield Hardline it happens with. I have even sent ping tests to the servers and reported them back to support staff to verify connections.

In a nutshell, it's Hardline that is affected, and it's several nights a week (3 times tonight) and is only myself affected, all other players and Teamspeak members are still where I left them from being booted.

It seems there is no more help out there, save for an engineer doing box work, or God knows, maybe it's even knackered cable to my house causing the drop (unlikely I know, but I'm at a loss for an answer)

Can anyone help - i.e. Virgin.

Re: Hardline Disconnect

Hi Paul_I,

Yes, that's the traceroute I was looking for. I assume 185.16.85.204 is the server you play on? What's strange about the trace is that everything looks fine but the 2nd hop (1st hop from your hub to the network) is quite high but every hop afterwards is low so it was likely just busy at the time and sets IP response as a low priority.

Could you check the network and security log on the hub after this drops out? I'm just wondering if there's an entry there that would explain this.

Re: Hardline Disconnect

Hi Paul_I,

Thanks for keeping me updated. I'm disappointed to hear it's still happening for you.

It sounds like the changes the agent made are to the wireless channels but if you're connecting using an ethernet cable then this wouldn't make a difference.

When testing your connection I still see your upstream power levels out of range. I've replied to your PM so I'll discuss it further with you there.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Re: Hardline Disconnect

Hi Paul_I,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Battlefield. If this is only happening with one game let's concentrate on the router between your computer and those servers. Could you run a traceroute to the server you play on and post it here for us to take a look at?

I've checked your connection from here and everything looks perfectly fine with your connection. As you say it's mainly in the evening I would have thought this might be linked to congestion but there's no problems with that on our end.

What's odd is that this appears to only happen with battlefield, but that it also affects teams speak at that time almost as though something is killing the connection coming from battlefield.

Post the traceroute and we'll take things from there.

Cheers

John

Re: Hardline Disconnect

Is this what you need? I've done this before and afterwards, the kicks still continued:

Re: Hardline Disconnect

I wouldn't know where to look to check the network and security log on the hub John.

Do I log into the router page and find it all in there?

Re: Hardline Disconnect

Just go your superhub home page (192.168.0.1), don't log in, there's a router status button on the top right corner. click on that and it will be in the options.
