Gaming and general speed issues

Hi; having issues with gaming at the moment (and have done for the past couple of days). Ping is horrendous and general speeds are very, very bad. I'm on XL broadband.

Re: Gaming and general speed issues

Any update on this please?

Hits 7 oclock (after being fine during the day) and ping spikes back up to 110.

Re: Gaming and general speed issues

Hey there h1IIer!

It can take a few days for a member of staff to reply - bumping your own thread resets it back to the bottom of the queue.

I've checked over the stats you've provided; it seems your downstream power levels are a little too high, but not by much. These may need to be adjusted, by an engineer being arranged. If this is the case, a member of staff will PM you to arrange that.

Power levels being out-of-range are one of the biggest causes of speed issues, so let's hope this will resolve it for you.

Those T3 time-outs seem a little odd too, which, if become a regular thing, can show an issue on the line. That may also need looking into.

In any case, you should hear back from one of the staff shortly. Smiley Happy

Re: Gaming and general speed issues

Hi h1lleh,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your speeds. I've checked your connection and can see that your downstream power levels are on the cusp of being too high. We can get a technician out to adjust this and I've just sent you a private message to arrange the best time.

While checking this I did notice that the contention in the area does spike at peak times which will also affect your speed. It hasn't quite breached our thresholds to raise a fault but I have asked for this to be monitored and raised asap.

Re: Gaming and general speed issues

Hi John - could you check again re thresholds at peak times please - it's as bad as it's ever been this week.

As soon as 11pm hits, then boom, ping magically drops to something near acceptable.

Re: Gaming and general speed issues

Hi h1lleh

I've had a look at the peak time usage and it appears that it's currently breaching thresholds. I will get this raised up to our network team. Let us know how your engineer visit goes too.

Speak soon

Re: Gaming and general speed issues

Thank you Ty, I'll let you know how it goes;

What's the next step from here? Investigation into the loads? How long does this take?
