As in the title I have been experiencing a kind of lag in game on FIFA.
It is not a stuttering lag, more like an input lag of sorts. It is only slight, maybe .5 of a second but in online play this is enough to give the opponent a significant advantage.
I have tried a wired connection, a wireless one, UPNP on and off, I have tried forwarding ports, DMZ and the only thing that seems to work to SOME extent is to put my router into modem mode, however, even this feels like there is still a slight delay to my players compared to my opponents. Also, it is not ideal for me to have it in modem mode as the rest of my family use the router.
The only thing that makes me think it is something to do with virgin is that for a short time after I made any of the changes above my gameplay is smooth, my players are responsive and I can compete on a level footing, this only tends to last for about 10-15 mins though and gradually gets worse. Almost without exception I will go on a run of defeats maybe struggling to the odd draw with painful gameplay, delay, missed tackles, paases with no power, players not making runs and almost all shots going off target. Then I change some settings on the hub, or reset it and bingo I will win my very next game by 3,4 or 5 goals with smooth fluid gameplay. This is very frustrating both playing the game and also my youtube uploads have come to a virtual standstill as I have no decent gameplay to upload.
Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear of the problems that you are experiencing when playing FIFA online. Thanks for confirming what you have tried so far. I'm unable to locate your details so I will send you a private message (red envelope top left hand corner) for some additional information and run a few checks on your hub.
Can you post a trace route for us to have a look at?
Do you notice if these problems occur at certain times of the day?
Hi, after thinking this issue was sorted, unfortunately the problems have returned. I spoke to EA support again as they seemed to be helpful at least to some extent last time. They advised me to use untraceable which I have, I am no expert in this but I suspect 70% packet loss is not good. When the engineer initially installed the broadband he put some kind of range booster at the source in our house could this be causing an issue? Cheers, Jon
Thanks for replying to my PM. There is some work going on in the area (C00666571) which may cause intermittent service. it should be completed by around 4pm today. I'll check back in with you after this has finished to continue looking into this problem.
