Consistant Lag and Latency spikes in games

[ Edited ]

For the past 2 weeks every online game on my ps4

  • Neverwinter online
  • Star trek online
  • Elder Scrolls online

has been suffering from lag, latency, rubber banding etc, these games are on totally different servers, 2 in US and Elder Scrolls in the EU.

There is no widespread issues regarding the above or PSN as the result of a server problem, there is however a few that are having problems who are in the UK and with VM.

in fact i know of 1 neighbour within 100yards of me, who is also with VM that is experiencing the exact same problems, only difference is the only mmo he plays is Elder scrolls online (same EU server as me)

Re: Consistant Lag and Latency spikes in games

Looks like you're fairly close by me and yeah I'm having the same issues as well on games like Overwatch, Fifa, Halo, Battlefield etc on Xbox and on PC.

I posted about this in another thread but I've found that the freezes seem to happen to everyone in at least my area (East Ayrshire) at the same time. I've got two friends I play with online who have virgin internet and whenever one of us freeze the other two do as well. We've went as far as to test it and the freezes happen at the same time for almost the same duration every time.

Spoke to Virgin about it and they think its a coincidence, and want to send an engineer to replace our equipment the day our 2 week money back period ends. We'll just cancel if its not sorted but I think they need to wake up and realize this isn't an issue specific to one property.

Re: Consistant Lag and Latency spikes in games

Hi shadowwraith,

Thanks for posting on the community.

Sorry to read you are experiencing lag and latency spikes. I can imagine how annoying this must be.

I can see that you posted on this thread > Dreadful Packet Loss - Ongoing issue that is not going to go away VM!, which has now been resolved.

If you are still having the same issue, can you re-post an up-to-date BQM graph for me please? Also some trace routes please for us to take a look at?

Hope to hear from you soon

Sam

Re: Consistant Lag and Latency spikes in games

I've been having this issue too and I live in Kent! I'm getting pretty fed up with it to be honest. Any game online is unplayable for me

Re: Consistant Lag and Latency spikes in games

Thank you for your response Samantha, the issue has been fixed as it was in direct relation to the packet loss issues in Ayrshire which was fixed by VM.

Re: Consistant Lag and Latency spikes in games

Been Happening to me for weeks now in Paisley, Scotland.

Seems to be getting worse as the time goes on aswell rocket league at least once per game freaks out and i get the connection error and end up flying all over the place because of lag spikes.

Happens both wired & wireless.

Pull the finger out virgin media, I aint paying for a service like this when its mainly for gaming.
