CS:GO still lagtastic

For around 6 months now I have suffered poor lag in Cs:Go, this is despite:

1. Being told its utilisation issue which will be sorted in around 2 weeks (this is since February)

2. Having Virgin Tech dial into my Superhub and change settings, this helped a little.

Anyone any ideas before I ditch Virgin and go elsewhere (I hear theres 1 or 2 providers that are pretty good for gaming.

Help please,

Oh, interesting, I just got told it was a utilisation issue. Is this just their way to get us to shut up? Oh dear, Virgin Media.

Re: CS:GO still lagtastic

Not sure if your answer is based on sarcasm or surprise Smiley Very Happy

Either way "Oh dear Virgin Media" indeed.

Been with Virgin and its predecessors since the 1990s but the last 6 months has been poor, very poor from them/

6 months of utilisation excuses.......VM get your act together, pitiful excuse for a company.

Just move to Sky if you can, I'm gone as soon as my contract is up, it's been 7 months now and it's only getting worse with no fix in sight.

Re: CS:GO still lagtastic

Hi Smogger,

Sorry to hear you're getting poor speeds. You are affected by a peak time contention fault under ticket F003329150 which is due for review 23/12/15.

This will cause poor speeds and lag in the evenings and weekends.

There is also an ongoing issue with Valves EU servers that is affecting CS:GO which is unrelated to your congestion but will certainly be making matters worse.

Re: CS:GO still lagtastic

Thanks for the reply but I am a little unsure what these are:

What is peak time contention fault?

What is the issue with Valve servers?

Re: CS:GO still lagtastic

I can answer this, saves you waiting for a mod to reply.

A Peak time Contention Fault is where users experience slow speeds because there are too many users using a limited amount of bandwidth due to over subscription of the service, this is common with most ISP's.

The issue with Valves servers was to do with it routing through a server which was causing major issues with most/all Uk players, last I knew it was sorted? I'll need to check.

Re: CS:GO still lagtastic

This is what I thought it was but wasnt entirely sure.  Thanks.

I'm also guessing that Peak Time includes 7am on a Sunday morning? (sarcasm) 200mb connection getting 15mb...so glad I getting VFM

Re: CS:GO still lagtastic

WOW.......the upgrade to a Superhub 2 and 200mb was worthwhile......speedtests have gone from 50-60 down to 5-10mb

and CS:GO is now virtually unplayable.  I'm paying out well over £110 a month to Virgin for a service thats extremely poor.

Time to switch after being with these guys since around 1996.
