3 PS4, 2 Always NAT 3 cannot solve

We currently have 3 PS4 in the house.  All wired (2 through power plugs, 1 directly into the router) and yet 2 of them are always on NAT 3.  I have tried port forwarding, port triggering, DMZ, wireless and wired.  i am running out of ideas and I am starting to believe the problem is with the Superhub.  I currently have the Superhub 1 and I am finding some people have the same issue.  Have I missed anything I could try?  Thanks in advance

Your port list is right by most online guides. Portforward.com gives a variation..

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/VirginMedia/Super_Hub_2/PS4.htm

SO

  • Make sure Unpnp is switched off on the router
  • Amend the rules to what portforward.com says

Test...

They also have a testing tool on there, might help.

Re: 3 PS4, 2 Always NAT 3 cannot solve

Nope

Its a limitation of NAT routing. One port, one IP address. So without getting really silly you will be limited to

  • One set up with port forwrding
  • One in DMZ
  • 3rd with strict NAT

There are ways around it, but you would need a bit of specialist knowledge and AFAIK they will cost money over and above your current set up.

Basically PS4/Xbox One were designed for IPV6 which no longer needs NAT routing , so this issue would not exist. Unfortunately IPV6 implementation has not happened yet, so its down to work a rounds.

Re: 3 PS4, 2 Always NAT 3 cannot solve

Well I am currently using one on DMZ and one portforwarded and I still have a strict NAT 3 on 2 of them.  They even switch from my one (usually on type 2) to my flatmates (usually on type 3) so I cannot even say that the one on DMZ will be type 2 and the one on portforward will be type 3 or vice versa.

EDIT: Both wired through powerplugs.  The one on DMZ is type 3 and the portforward one is Type 2.  Switch 2nd PS4 to wireless and it goes to type 3.

Re: 3 PS4, 2 Always NAT 3 cannot solve

So if your is set to 12 (for arguments sake) and you've done the port forwarding to 12

And flatmates is 15 and its in DMZ -

Both those should be fine NAT type wise. Remember different games need different ports, so check publishers website for title specific forwards required for 12.

Make sure you have set the static IP's PS4 end as well, then reboot all 3 (Hub and 2xPS4's)

Re: 3 PS4, 2 Always NAT 3 cannot solve

My PS4 is infact the one that is 12 and flatmate is on 15.

I am Portforwarded, static IP on both router and PS4, my flatmate is in a DMZ with static IP on both router and PS4.

I now have type 3 and he has type 2.  Thank you for your continued suggestions and I would appreciate any other ideas you have on this kippies

EDIT:  I did power cycle all 3

Re: 3 PS4, 2 Always NAT 3 cannot solve

Sounds like the port forwarding hasn't worked on the Super Hub then- Hes in DMZ and getting 2 which is right

Can you screenshot your port forwrd screen from Shub - We will go through it and see if there's any additional rules you need to add?

Re: 3 PS4, 2 Always NAT 3 cannot solve

Just thought of something- which one is wired directly into the router?
