After losing my phoneline and trying a different handset, I undid the main phone socket to see whether any connections were loose and i found 4 wires, 3 sockets and only 1 of the wires attached.
Can you tell me what goes where?
The 4 wires are coloured:
Mostly blue with white bits
Mostly white with blue bits
Mostly white with orange bits
Mostly orange with white bits
The three sockets are off centre of the main socket, the one nearest the middle which I'll call Socket 1 has the "blue with white" wire in. What goes in Sockets 2 (the middle of the three) and 3 (nearest the edge). Do I need all 4 wires to be connected?
In the phone socket is 3 sockets one should say B and another A
From the setup you have described it should be mostly blue with white into B and mostly white with blue into A
That is all, these dont suddendly fall out are you sure one didnt come loose when you opened the socket? If the above does not fix it then chances are the fault is somewhere else and a tech would need to be booked

My mate worked for BT and he swapped over the socket for a nice polished chrome master plug. He left the blue ones disconnected and wired in the orange/white and white/orange in the number 3 and 4 as per leaflet.
Just to let you know our phone was not receiving or making calls, you could dial the number and the clock would start counting as if you was connected to a call but there was no sound or the other end could not hear me!?
I do have a technician coming sat morning.
The goal is to have a sunken box in the wall and a nice finish flat on the wall.
