Hello

Usenet there is only one. Email servers again just the one as it load balances both before and after migration. The others not sure about, I would expect that the others are just a front end load balancer with multiple servers behind them.

Re: Virgin Media Servers and Mirrors

Hi,

Just to clarify, what I'm after is a list of Virgin media servers; I was giving examples of the ones that I knew, not ones I wanted alternatives for (VM don't have any redundant/secondary servers for any of their stuff AFAIK).

Edit: Gah! %$£&]~#@ Smiley Mad thing ate my post after I hit post! Why does that keep happening!?

I can't be assed to type it all in again now, but the gist was:

I'm looking for servers and mirrors in the same vein as the ones I mentioned in my original post, e.g. things like the ntp server, mirror servers like gentoo.virginmedia.com, utility webservers like the one I just found (tools.virginmedia.com)

It's more for casual/historical curiosity, but the gentoo repo mirror has been very handy for instance (Much faster when emerge -upv worldi'ing!)

Re: Virgin Media Servers and Mirrors

if you are using BSD, the virgin mirrors are effectively useless.

I tried building my OpenBSD desktop from virgin mirrors and it simply falls over, this is because some short termist idea of putting a banner on every transaction. Very, very poor.

I've had to use non virgin servers which is a shame as this would same lots of external ISP traffic.

If you are by chance trying to build a OpenBSD or BSD box using ports, then this command will help

(AMD64 image)

PKG_PATH=ftp://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/pub/OpenBSD/4.9/packages/amd64
