Starview Boxes.

I'm amazed there are so many illegal boxes on the VM network!

Starview are now charging subscriptions to members to use virgin media TV!

what are Virgin Media doing about this!!?

Please quantify. How do you know how many non-Virgin Media boxes are connected?

simple answer i dont know.

but if you check the forums and see how many people are asking questions, having issues, it kinda paints a picture!, its just very frustrating that i pay how ever much for my service, and theres people cheating VM and making a profit!!!

Re: Starview Boxes.

How are people still getting free TV when VM changed the encryption rendering these boxes useless?

yeah thats correct, virgin did change their encryption, which was actaully very good idea!!

but unfortunaltly they came up with another way to abuse VM.

not an expect, but i think it works something like this.

they have a house or something, that has a VM box that has all channels, then they use a server and share all the channels over the net, and the new boxes work by using the net and getting all channels? its something along them lines

Re: Starview Boxes.

Would VM not know what theyre up to by their internet use? Surely by watching for a few hours they'd be downloading tons of gigabytes?

Re: Starview Boxes.

It only sends they encryption keys over the net not the content so doesn't use loads of bandwidth, the fact is as soon as a server is exposed virgin have all the ip addresses and will pass the details onto the police

yeah good point,

I dont think it shares the channels exactly, i presume, that the legit VM box decodes the channels, then sends the decrypted signal out over the net to all the illegal boxes? therefore it wouldnt be noticeable?
