Perhaps the emails are being sent from another address but have been modified to say they were sent form your address. This could cause the problem and they would not need your password, only your address.

No, they are being sent from the server as they are in the webmail sent mail folder.
Ok, time for an update for anyone else that is having this problem.
I initially changed my password but the were still being sent from the server and not my pc at home and this was leading to the hundreds of returned e-mail failures.
I then changed my password again but also the security question and signed out of all sessions on the webmail site but again the mails coninued to be sent and returned.
After about 5 weeks I finally changed my password again and this time also sent a security report via the online form and hey presto the mails have finally stopped being sent although one or two still coming in as being a failure to send but this should now eventually stop as they are no longer being sent.
Now I don't know if it was anything to do with sending the security report form but this did coincide with the mails no longer being sent from webmail so if it was, then thank you to whoever was at VM and put a stop to this.
Anyway to anyone that is having this problem, yes - change your password and yes - change your security question but also remember to send a security form as well as I am sure this done the trick.
Well all I know is that I didn't send them and they were there but at least it seems to have been sorted out. Gmail is **bleep** anyway.......VM should never have went down that rocky road in the first place.
