Yes I haev tried running through everything so many times. It says user name or password for 'imap.virginmedia.com' is incorrect. I know they are not! As I have an ntlworld.com email address should the imap name be ntlworld.com or virginmedia.com. However, using either or these does not work anyway!
originally, before you sent the phone away to be fixed, it would receive but not send.
The problem sending is because the smtp.ntlworld.com server does not allow sending unless you are connected via the VM network (eg you home broadband). You should be able to fic this by using smtp.virginmedia.com instead, along with the following:
authentication ON (password)
whichever settings you had before which worked for receiving, be that via POP3 or IMAP, there is no need to change those. I would guess that you had the ntlworld.com server for that.
