The model number you have posted is for an ambit modem NOT a router.
If that is the model number of your device then you would have a second device which would be the router, if you only have the one device from which you got that serial number then you dont have wireless.

I cant find a seccond device, if I dont have wireless then I cant understand how my xbox recognises my home internet connection and just asks me for a WPA to log in?

Are you sure its your home internet and not a neighbours?

100% sure because our internet is named "home" I have checked it on the pc, and thats the network recieved by the xbox. Think I will ring virgin and see what the scenario is.

I wouldnt go as far to say 100% if I was you. home is usually the name given on a pc for the home network does not mean its wireless.
If the model number you have given us is correct that is 100% not wireless. If you only have one device then your 100% not wireless.
All Virgin provided wireless devices have the wireless name and password written on the bottom. So if the modem you have does not again 100% your not wireless

well simple way to check is on the back of the modem box the ambit, trace the ethernet cable eg yellow/blue cable, where does it go if it goes into a pc or laptop you DONT have a wireless router.
if its going via another box, then can you post the make and model of that box.
