Channel 5, 5 USA, 5* pixelation issue

Switched from Sky to Virgin a little while ago now, but we have never had good reception for any of the Channel 5 stations. We experience regular pixelation of picture which always appears grainy compared to other channels. Being a big fan of CSI & NCIS this is somewhat irritating. The reception of these channels via freeview is far superior but i do not really want to be flipping back to freeview when I am paying for a service that should be at least at good in quality. I have contacted customer support a few times now, tried rebooting box several times, disconnected cables, blown in connectors, been told 'It''l be sorted in 24-48hrs, but its still not resolved. Checking back through previous posts I spot people with similar issues but cannot see what the resolution finally was. Any suggestions/ help welcome. Do i need to insist on an engineer visit for something like this? Thanks.

Re: Channel 5, 5 USA, 5* pixelation issue

Hello jmatth,

This is currently a known issue.  We are aware of the problem, VM and Channel 5 are actively working together to investigate these issues to improve the service and picture quality.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you,

Kirsty

Re: Channel 5, 5 USA, 5* pixelation issue

Hi jmatth,

I too have this same issue with the Channel 5, 5 USA pixelating.    From what I am led to believe, this issue is not solely with Virgin Media, as everdently Sky customers are suffering with the same issue.

Don't know when its going to be fixed.  It would be nice if Virgin Media could give us a approximation as to the length of time we'll have to wait for this issue to be fixed.

                                                                                      Regards  dozer167

Just because you have had this issue for a while doesn't mean everyone has, late last year channel 5 squeezed all of it channels onto on satellite transported meaning that programs with detailed scenery or fast moving action are suffering from bandwidth starvation and have artifacting occurring

Re: Channel 5, 5 USA, 5* pixelation issue

A couple of days ago I attempted to watch the pilot of the new "Person of Interest" series on 5USA (recorded on my TiVo), but the picture quality is so poor that it was unwatchable.

I don't see the point in 5USA being on air at all if they're incapable of broadcasting a coherent TV picture.

Oh well - one less programme to watch, albeit for the wrong reason.

NOW they tell me! I wonder how I can catch up (wanders off to do a search, muttering to himself).

Thanks, Dannylau. It's borderline whether I'm actually interested in this series (seems a bit too dry), but I wanted a quick gripe about the outrageous artefacts.
