Re: out going e mails

As stated earlier the timeout period is 24hours  So if you started getting these at 9pmlast night then you won't be able to send until 9pm tonight,

Re: out going e mails

I sometimes wish people would use the search box.  There are a number of posts where the 452 VM501 and VM502 errors have been explained clearly.

452 means you've exceeded the TOTAL amount of recipients that can be sent to in a certain time period.
VM502 is for a rolling 24 hour time period.

Each time you send a mail Virgin counts the number of recipients in that mail and adds it to the total.  Once you reach the limit all further mails will fail with the above error, even if to a single recipient, until the timeout period expires.

This is an anti spam measure.  Virgin don't quote the limits directly but state the following.

  • If mail is set without authenticating, the limits are reduced.
  • If the mail is sent from outside the Virgin Media network, the limits are reduced.
  • If the mail is sent from a known spam hotspot, the limits are reduced still further.

Solutions - send using webmail as the send limits are higher.
                - Wait for the timeout to expire.

Re: out going e mails

Are you by chance using a mailing list?

I would check it to see what's happening.  I've never known Virgin's email servers to send anything other than a single copy per recipient.  The Forum Team can check the mail logs if necessary when they come on board but it'll take several days before they get here.

Re: out going e mails

It helps to post the reason for the mail being undeliverable.

Post the full message just miss out the leading part of any email address.

Why is it whan when I say post the full message - you still leave off the most important part?  While the server codes and text response might mean nothing to you - it's important that we see them.
