iphone / ipad email

Getting a familiar problem again but cant clear it.

Cant sent email on Blueyonder mail account.

"Cannot send mail, username or password for @blueyonder is incorrect."

Incoming is fine.

Sending from PC Outlook is fine.

Previously changing the password on VM website which has cleared it, not this time.

So far have lost 3 hours of my life trying all the setting tweaks suggested all to no avail!

What is going on?

Re: iphone / ipad email

@jp24

Deleting and reinstalling the account on the Iphone/Ipad won't fix the problem as deleting the account doesn't actually remove the SMTP server from the device.  Follow the advice in the thread linked by Argy and simply delete the SMTP password and enter the current one.

Re: iphone / ipad email

Hi jp24,

Welcome to the forums, I'm sorry to see you have been having trouble with your emails.

It sounds like you have been having a bit of a tricky time with this. You mention the settings are they the same as the settings found here

If you are still having trouble please try re-setting the password again in webmail make sure you use a password you have not used before.

Let us know how you get on.

All the best

Emma

Re: iphone / ipad email

Hello No difference at all.

I am now sick of changing password on VM and deleting my mail accounts on devices.

NB I have also updated latest Apple OS updates to no avail.

Surely VM can sort this out?

I think migrating to icloud is the only solution, pain in the back side though!

Re: iphone / ipad email

Hi jp24,

Thanks for getting back in touch, I'm sorry to see you have continued to have trouble.

Are you having trouble accessing webmail at all or is it just on the iPad/iPhone you are having issues?

You said everything is ok with Outlook hopefully nothing has changed there. Have you tried removing the accounts from the Apple devices and re-adding them? Please make sure you back up any important data before doing this.

Let me know how you get on.

Emma

Re: iphone / ipad email

Hello Emma

I do not have problems with web mail. It is just accessing from Apple devices.

I had a similar problem about a year or so ago that was resolved by deleting  the VM password and reinstalling  accounts on Apple devices.

However I have now done this numerous times to the point where I am losing track of my VM password and ideas for the next one and am learning to live with Icloud email, not great!

Thanks

Jamie

Have a look at this thread.  Does that resolve your issue?

Re: iphone / ipad email

Many thanks for solving this problem.

Excellent instructions

Luckily I had created a Icloud account that enabled me to delete the SMTP for virgin.

Not sure how people without an additional account would manage?

However, all resolved and very grateful.

Re: iphone / ipad email

you didn't have to delete the SMTP server.  Once you get that deep into the settings you might as well have just removed the password and entered the new one.  i just showed how to delete the server for completeness.
