false spam

When sending a Word document to myself or to my Kindle I get a message that Spam content has been detected.  It's a slimmed version of a document I've sent many times before.

VM tech support have no comment.  Is there any way I can troubleshoot this?

Re: false spam

Was there anything else other than the attachment.  Any links at all?

Re: false spam

Hi @brothersamati

I'm so sorry for the trouble you're encountering when trying to send a Word attachment via email.

I'd like to look into things for you so will require a little more info so we can escalate this issue. I'll send you a PM (purple envelope, top right) so we can discuss this further and get the necessary information.

Drop me a reply when you get chance and I'll get that look at right away.

Re: false spam

No subject, no text.  Within the Word document there was the URL of a fictitious website.  (The document was a novel).

I've never had any trouble getting it on my Kindle before.

I'll try sabotaging the URL and see if it makes any difference.

Re: false spam

Well, today I managed to email it to myself, without doctoring the URL.  Yesterday it failed over and over again.  I hate intermittent failures.

Re: false spam

As do I - we're seeing a few threads with the same subject today and yesterday.

I really don't know what's going on with Virgin but I know one of the other Superusers has already raised this behind the scenes.

Re: false spam

There was a post yesterday with an spam error message indicating the one of the VM smtp servers was on a blacklist (the IP address in said post has since been removed by the mod team).  Perhaps this has since been cleared and hence emails are going again.

Re: false spam

It's a thought Graham,

The one thing the OP didn't say was whether he was sending via webmail - however most of the other threads that have been started have been for webmail.  And they're typically flashing up a warning within web mail itself.

Having said that a couple of the posters have reported the problem fixed now.

Ravestar68

BTW do you have a link to the thread you referenced?

Re: false spam

That one was being sent by a mail client and being bounced.  I've actually flagged it back to the mods as The IP address is not the posters and therefore shouldn't have been removed.
