Webmail unsafe?

Why do I get the following warning in Chrome when accessing webmail?

"This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources"

If you're getting "This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources" error, it's because Chrome is trying to protect you from a site that's not secure and ensure that your information on the page doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

Re: Webmail unsafe?

As you are the only person reporting this today, it's probably your computer causing it and not the VM website.

Is your version of Chrome up-to-date?

What extensions are enabled in Chrome?

Do you have an AntiVirus product which is scanning incoming traffic?

Is HTTPS shown in the address bar for the site and/or is it struck through with a red line?

Have you tried another browser to compare the result?

Re: Webmail unsafe?

No, he/she is not the only person.  It is not browser specific and the problem kicked in a couple of months ago at a guess.  I have reported this twice to Virgin Media with no success to date.  Before you ask I have all the up to date software installed ...  The issue is with the backend infrastructure that is is serving the script not being authorised via the https connection.  I cannot believe Virgin cannot see and fix this issue.  The workaround is to keep refreshing etc but makes the use case experience very poor and very frustrating it needs to be fixed ............

Re: Webmail unsafe?

To add further context this forum triggers exactly the same error, classic I would say ...

Re: Webmail unsafe?

@ShaggyMonster - Good to know that I'm not the only one experiencing the problem though I'm only getting it on the webmail site not the forum.

The actual error I'm seeing in the Chrome developer console is:

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://mail2.virginmedia.com/appsuite/#!&app=io.ox/mail&folder=flhawlw01%5Bfwx' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure XMLHttpRequest endpoint 'http://redirects.virginmedia.com/'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

Re: Webmail unsafe?

Re: Webmail unsafe?

Hi Wavelength, I am running HTTPS Anywhere which as you probably know switches a site to https if it is supported ....
