Unable to send NTLworld email from iphone

Hi,

Yesterday I changed my account password.  I reset my iPhone (6s) settings to use the new password.

I can receive emails ok from my iPhone, however I cannot send.

I've checked the settings - smpt server, SSL, port number all set correctly:

SMTP: smtp.ntlworld.com as primary and smtp.virginmedia.com as secondary 
Username: (username@ntlworld.com)
Password: (your password)
Use SSL: On
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 465

After deleting the account on my phone and resetting I am now getting a error - either user name & password incorrect (they are not as I have entered a number of times) and some times the error "connection to the server timed out" when reseting the details on the smtp tab and sometimes the error "invalid recipient xxx@xxx.com" when I try to send an email.

Please help!

I'm in the same situation - using an iPhone 5s

I had to change my password last week - everything works on my MacBook Pro , I can receive without any problem on my iPhone - but sending - just not possible - indeed from time to time it tells me that my password is wrong.

Please Virgin - sort out this messy email system

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble sending emails on your iPhone. Many thanks for all the details you've supplied in your post. It's always handy to know what has been attempted so far.

 

I'll start by directing you to our help page Using Virgin Media Mail with Email clients as all the correct settings are located here. I'd recommend using our Virgin Media outgoing server which is smtp.virginmedia.com as this will generally resolve this type of problem.

I've already followed all the instructions (including using the virginmedia smtp server).  Problem only arose when I changed my password.  I also have the same issue on my Mac Book.

Must be some other issue?

Your issue maybe different to Anhelyna as the Macbook is working for them. Could you try another password reset? If there's is more than one device affected it might be a password sync issue. Are you able to login to webmail

Thanks for the reply.

 

Running a check on your email address and the outgoing test fails. This is more thank likely a password sync issue as I mentioned previously. Could you try a password reset again please?

I'm getting the same issue - again when my password changed.

 

Have reset again......but no improvement
