Transfer whole address book

How do I transfer my complete address book from Windows live mail to Virgin's mail 2? Tried using export (to a flash drive with csv suffix) and seemed to work. Then when I went to import to Mail 2, it would only allow one address at a time & even this didn't work. Said it wasn't a valid file.

Have bought another computer using Windows 10, so need to have contacts in mail 2, so that the app shows them.

Re: Transfer whole address book

Following was posted in answer to this, importing contacts:

IMHO, missing exported data and/or a mismatch between columns names in the CSV file is the issue.

Try this instead:

  1. Export the Windows Live Mail contact as .vcf
  2. Open a Command Prompt
  3. Change to the directory containing the  .vcf files
  4. Type the following command to concatenate the .vcf files into a single .vcf file : type *.vcf >> my_contacts_2016-05-23.vcf
  5. In Virgin Media's webmail select  Import
  6. Change the format to vCard and click Upload file
  7. Select my_contacts_2016-05-23.vcf

Be aware that distribution lists will need to be re-created.

Re: Transfer whole address book

Exported as suggested to flash drive. When I checked folder, it was empty?

Also, where is the 'command' prompt? I am not a computer whizz, so please keep it simple.

Re: Transfer whole address book

When exporting you choose a folder to export to, is this folder empty of any vCard files (.vcf)?

This video demonstrate concatenation of files, How to Combine Text (.txt) Files; a different command is used to achieve the same result so you may wish to change step (4) to copy *.vcf my_contacts-2017-01-18.vcf
