Re: Setting up email on Kindle Fire

Probably best to use the IMAP protocol. So select IMAP from the account type and if possible select the option to use manual settings. The settings you need to use are:

Type of information

Settings to enter

Sending mail (SMTP)

SMTP server name

smtp.virginmedia.com

SMTP SSL

Enabled

SMTP port

465

SMTP authentication

Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)

SMTP username

Full email address, for example, richard.branson@blueyonder.co.uk

Note: If you update your username in My Virgin Media, this email address will not change.

Receiving mail (IMAP4)

IMAP4 server name

imap.virginmedia.com

IMAP4 SSL

Enabled

IMAP4 port

993

IMAP4 authentication

Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)

IMAP4 username

Full email address, for example, richard.branson@blueyonder.co.uk

Note: If you update your username in My Virgin Media, this email address will not change.

IMAP4 SPA (Secure Password Authentication)

Disabled

An alternative way is to use the exchange option - instructions can be found here: http://www.solve.uk.com/blog/how-to-setup-ntl-world-email-on-an-ipad.htm  Although these instructions are for ntlworld addresses they work with blueyonder as well.

Re: Setting up email on Kindle Fire

Those settings should work so I would double check to make sure that you have typed everything in correctly.

Re: Setting up email on Kindle Fire

Yes, you use whichever email address goes with the account you are trying to access.  So if you only have the one email address that is the one to use.

Re: Setting up email on Kindle Fire

Are you getting any error messages and if so what are they?  Also it is worth resetting the password for the account in My Virgin Media as this seems to sort out some peoples problems.

I found these notes that show the process of manual setting up an email account on Kindle Fire:

Manually Set up Your Email Account

  1. From the Home screen of your Kindle Fire, tap Apps, and then tap the Email app.
  2. Tap the menu icon and then tap Settings.
  3. Tap Add Account and then tap Other provider.
  4. Enter the email address and password for the account, and tap Manual setup.
  5. Under Incoming server settings, choose the account type (IMAP or POP3), and select the IMAP or POP server, Security type, and Port for the incoming server.
  6. Scroll down further to Outgoing server settings and select the IMAP or POP server, Security type, and Port for the outgoing server.
  7. When you are finished, tap Save.
