Setting up a namesco email account in outlook

I am trying to set up a namesco email account in outlook 16. I am using the namesco incoming mail server, pop3.hosts.co.uk. I am trying to combine this with the virgin media outgoing mail server, smtp.virginmedia.com but I can't get emails to send (ie when I test account settings logon to the incoming server is successful but sending a test email doesn't work). I have tried all sorts of combinations of settings and searched the internet for answers but to no avail! Can anybody help me?

Thanks

Re: Setting up a namesco email account in outlook

Why do you want to use the Virgin Media servers at all?

Re: Setting up a namesco email account in outlook

If you want to take your laptop etc and connect for email whilst out and about the best bet is to buy an 'authorized. smtp from Namesco (stmp.hosts.co.uk) - This lets you send email from anywhere ...

IF

You want to use your VM stmp connection (eg from home) then it will work - but takes up to 24hrs for it to self-authorize via NAMESCO .....

... ZVNK ...

(I had exactly the same set-up problem with Namesco !)

Mind you - usimg their webmail4 is easier all round ....!

Re: Setting up a namesco email account in outlook

In order to use the Virgin Media smtp server you will need to use a valid VM account and password to authenticate the sending.  You will not be able to authenticate with your namesco email address.

However, using the email suppliers servers would be the best option.

By the way, in zvonok's posts the letters have been transposed to stmp rather than smtp.

You can send using Virgin's servers.  Set the outgoing server as smtp.virginmedia.com

Under More Settings->Outgoing set the following options.

outgoing3rdparty.JPG

Obviously replace the email address with your Virgin Media Email address and use your Virgin Password

Make sure your outgoing port is set to SSL and Port 465 in the Advanced section.
