Sending emails

Is anybody else unable to send emails from phone/outlook? I'mean receiving them OK. So far I've reset my accounts and manually set them up.

Cheers

Hi Andy,

Thanks for getting back to me Smiley Happy

I've raised this up to I.T. fault ref: P007613835 and should take no more than 3 - 5 days to resolve. I shall be in touch as soon as they get back to me.

Bye for now Smiley Happy

Re: Sending emails

millsy0502,

I.T. have just notified me that they've fixed this by updating the Aggregate record,  your blueyonder email account  should now send without any problems.

Feel free to test and confirm Smiley Happy

Re: Sending emails

If you had read the E-mail board you would have seen that this was a familiar refrain, but how does it help you to know that others have the same problem?. They clearly do but it doesn't help solve your problem. Knowing that all the cars in the my street have broken down doesn't help me get mine started?

You've given us so little information to go on that it is hard to advise and probably explains why your post has gone unanswered until now.

Tell us a lot more about your set -up. Outlook as an e-mail client, what are your SMTP settings? What error messages have you seen. Post them here (leave out personal details like names before the @ symbol in e-mail addresses).

Can you send and receive from web mail? That is crucial information.

What kind of phone - android or Apple OS?

I have an inkling of what is going on but I can only advise further once you have provided this information.

Re: Sending emails

HI,

I can't send email from outlook and my Samsung Galaxy s6 phone. I've tried using the pop3 and I map, the error message is "email server at smtp.blueyonder.co.UK is not responding". I can email OK from the Web (Google Chrome ). Ssl 465 with authentication switched on.

Regards

Andy

Re: Sending emails

I'm going to ask the Forum Team to look at this @Jen_A (another VM304 issue?).

In the meantime can you do this please from Outlook and post the relevant line. It may not be the issue I think it is but this will help eliminate one possibility.

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Outgoing-Authentication-Issues-Check-Email-Logs/td-p/32371...

and pray tell why have you marked this thread as a helpful reply and solution when nothing has been solved. Kudos to say thanks (if you want). Helpful answer when it is sorted so others can look it up and not bother posting. Please remove the tick - use the Post options menu

The part in red suggests something other than a 304 error.

However the server is definitely up when I try it.  I'm assuming you have a windows PC so can you try the following

Press Windows Key+R
Type cmd into the box that appears and press Enter

In the new window type tracert smtp.blueyonder.co.uk

Copy and paste the output into a reply on here. - To do so do the following

1. Click the icon in the top left corner of the Command window
2. Select Edit->Mark
3. Drag the cursor so the text is highlighted.
4. Press the Enter key - the white highlight will vanish.
5. Use Ctrl+V to paste the text into your reply

Note Windows 8 and 10 have quick edit enabled by default, so if you have that, you can go straight to step 3 above.

Here's what I get as an example.

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.14393]
(c) 2016 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\timdu>tracert smtp.blueyonder.co.uk

Re: Sending emails

Hi millsy0502,

Welcome to our Community, thanks for coming to us for help with this Smiley Happy

The first thing I'd like to do is to rule out any obvious issues (such as VM304) by testing your account on our systems. I need to confirm which email address is displaying this problem so take a look at my PM (purple envelope icon, top right of page) and reply when you can.
Once I've eliminated the obvious I can do more in-depth diagnostics if needed so that we can get this resolved for you.

Thanks to Howard & ravenstar for their support so far Smiley Happy
