SMTP suddenly failing with 0x800ccc1a

I was successfully getting and sending emails when sending suddenly stated failing "Sending reported error 0x800ccc1a your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified.

I'm using Outlook 2013. My email address ends in .ntlworld.com

I am on a cruise ship, so not directly connected to Virgin

Why has it suddenly stopped working?

Re: SMTP suddenly failing with 0x800ccc1a

it's virgin's crap servers which cause that glitch. I've been seeing it intermittently in outlook for 10+ years on my blueyonder mailbox. it rights itself usually, on a re-try.

there's nothing you can do about it except switch to a more reliable email provider

Re: SMTP suddenly failing with 0x800ccc1a

Hi amacro,

Thanks for getting in touch, I am sorry to see that you have been having trouble sending emails.

Hope you are enjoying the cruise.

Are you using webmail or client mail?

If client mail try the webmail and let me know if it makes a difference?

Keep me posted.

Emma
