Outlook connection problem

I am having problems getting my virgin mail into outlook 2007. I have followed the guides (of which plenty on web) to the letter trying both pop3 & imap. When I click test I get the green tick on incoming but wont send test email with message cannot conect to outgoing server. This is driving me nuts. Any suggestions welcomed.

Bear in mind if you are sending via AOL - you MUST use AOL's SMTP servers to send your mail.  Do not use Virgin's.  Virgin will allow you to send but recipients utilising DMARC will reject any AOL addressed E-Mails that don't arrive from their SMTP servers.

Yes - tell us what settings you are using for SMTP server and POP/IMAP depending on which of these you are using.

Hi

incoming pop3 995 ssl. outgoing smtp 465 ssl.

They are OK. Make sure that you have outgoing authentication turned on as well for your SMTP settings. Can you access your mail via VM web mail (well not at the moment because the servers are suffering a hissy fit)?

Yes I have no probs usually with vmail. It is just in Outlook it wont find the outgoing server.        I currently have Orange set up in Outlook using virgin for outgoing could this be causing a problem?

Orange - not a problem. It would be better if you used the Orange SMTP servers for that account. Is authentication for the VM account turned on?

The reason i'm changing is because orange is terminating its email servers. VM authentication is on.

We know about the termination of Orange etc addresses. I'll ask one of the other Superusers to take a look at this thread for you. I've suggested all I can. Watch this thread for a further reply.
