Not receiving Email

I have two ntlworld.com email accounts and I use Thunderbird email client.  As of this morning, I haven't been able to receive any emails from either of my accounts, both are coming back with the message "Sending of password for user ********@ntlworld.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.ntlworld.com responded: [AUTH] Authentication failed".  I've also tried logging in to my Virgin webmail and this is failing also.  Is there a known problem or explanation of what could be happening please?

I do apologise for your email authentication issue. I'm not aware of any reported problem with this so would like to start by checking on your incoming server settings.

Please ensure you have the settings listed below:

Receiving mail (POP3)

  • POP3 server name - pop3.ntlworld.com
  • POP3 SSL - Enabled
  • POP3 port - 995
  • POP3 authentication - Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)
  • POP3 username - Full email address, e.g., user.name@ntlworld.com

or

Receiving mail (IMAP4)

  • IMAP4 server name - imap.ntlworld.com
  • IMAP4 SSL - Enabled
  • IMAP4 port - 993
  • IMAP4 authentication - Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)
  • IMAP4 username - Full email address, e.g., user.name@ntlworld.com
  • IMAP4 SPA (Secure Password Authentication) - Disabled
  • POP3 SPA (Secure Password Authentication) - Disabled

Apply those settings and let me know if the same problem with mail receipt continues.
