No virgin.net email

For the past couple of days I have been unable to retrieve emails to my virgin.net email account, either via Virgin's own website or Outlook.  I am receiving emails to my ntlworld account.  Is there a problem does anybody know?

You may well need to get the sender to resend those mails.  If they were sent while the virgin.net domain had lapsed then they should have been bounced back to the sender.

Double check your settings make sure Secure Password Authentication is NOT ticked.

As Howard says ideally you should be using port 995 with SSL as well.

Re: No virgin.net email

No one has ever heard of this before but wait what is this and this all about (if you are using Outlook on the web):

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Virgin-net-emails-not-being-picked-up-by-hotmail/td-p/3254...

Web mail should have partially returned to normal for most people.

Re: No virgin.net email

I access my virgin.net emails via Windows Mail. Operating system is Vista. Since last Thursday afternoon (Nov 10) I have got this error message when I start up Windows mail and when I try send/receive:

Account: 'pop.virgin.net', Server: 'pop.virgin.net', Protocol: POP3, Server response: '-ERR Protocol error.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Is this a problem at my end (in which case, advice would be welcome, or at Virgin's end?

I can access my email via webmail, but I prefer not to do that.

Re: No virgin.net email

You should be using Port 995 with SSL. The previous problem is cleared. This is something different.
