New email address

Help! We're new to Virgin, have been with previous company for around 20 years so not very good at setting things up. We are a large family and all need new email addresses but how do I do that? We wanted to keep our old email addresses but understand now our contract has ended with them we cannot keep the email addresses we have 😕 we have about 6 months to change so I have time to inform everyone who needs to know. Thank you for any replies 😉

Re: New email address

Welcome - you've managed to reach and post to this Forum so that is half the battle won.

The question you have to ask yourself is whether you want to repeat all this bother of having to change e-mail addresses each time to change ISP or do you all want addresses for life, independent of your ISP?

If you want addresses for life then each of you should register with an e-mail provider like Google (GMail) or Outlook.com (run by Microsoft) or Yahoo (over my dead body frankly, but I have to mention it to be fair and for balance) for a new web mail account (accessible by using your browser over the Internet on any computer anywhere in the world). Each of you will have your own address which you can keep through thick and thin.

That would be my choice now.

If you want addresses with VM ('virginmedia.com) all running on your broadband account with VM then follow this guidance to create an address on the account (you'll have up to eight additional addresses over and above the single one you got when you signed up:

http://help.virginmedia.com/system/selfservice.controller?CONFIGURATION=1001&PARTITION_ID=1&TIMEZONE...

For this first step you'll have needed to register and have your account set up on MyVirginmedia. Instructions should have been included in your initial documentation.

I do not work for VM. The advice I give is based on my best understanding of VM policy and practice. You rely on it at your own risk.
