NOT RECEIVING EMAILS

I have not received e-mails for 3 days. On investigating I found that there was a spurious e-mail address in the "Auto Forward" box. I removed this and the e-mails are coming through again.

Three questions. 1) Should the Auto Forward box be empty normally? 2) How did this happen? 3) What can I do to prevent this happening again (do I need to reset my password?)

Someone has found or guessed your password and set up the auto-forward. Delete the auto-forward and change your password immediately.
