My past and my present

I have a new laptop which I have downloaded Windows Live mail to. I am wanting to read my Virginmedia emails via Windows Live mail. How do I sort it so it only downloads New future emails? The last time I did this, it downloaded thousands of old email. I don't want this to happen again.

Re: My past and my present

Hello jordan500

Interesting question thank you. There are a couple of different protocols we use to choose between for incoming mail.

POP3 - This will download all emails in the inbox that have arrived since you last used a client with POP3, as far as I am aware there is no way to stop this. However once that is done it will only download future messages.

IMAP - This will download all emails in the Inbox and sub folders recursive, it will then keep your client and webmail synchronised. I believe on some clients you can configure it to download headers only and then only the body of the email if you request it.

The settings may be found here Email settings for addresses ending in @ntlworld.com

Hope that helps

Nicola
