Keep receving the same email every 15 minutes

I am getting the same email from same sender every 15 minutes for last 3 days.

It goes to my spam folder fine.

Looking at the source, it seems to be the same message being sent repeated times by a server as one of the dates it shows is the date/time of the original spam message, and that is identical for all the emails.

Any way of stopping this? its just irritating, means its hard to check my spam for emails that may be caught as this one is the only one. 

I could do a filter for it to go direct to bin/mark as read maybe as one way around it but that won't stop it?

Change your spam settings to Flag a message as SPAM but deliver to Inbox, then use filters to:

  1. reject the repetitive message
  2. move messages containing the subject text <SPAM>: to the spam folder

If it is already being moved to the spam folder by the VM filters, then creating your own filter would not be of any use as in Virgin Media webmail they only apply to mail entering the Inbox.

thanks for that!

I didn't realise reject was even an option (hidden within filters)

So have done that, not yet created the SPAM filter, will do that next. But 1 hour later and NO more emails from them.

(not sure who reads my reject notice - i just put SPAM as the reason? )

If the spammers read it then it confirms to them that your email address is valid. This in turn increases the potential sales value of your email address for onward sale to other spammers.

So don't be surprised if you start to receive even more spam going forward.

Good point , there is a possibility of that happening but cjanderson can negate that by giving the reasons as Unknown mailbox or using the discard action instead. 

FYI, the rejection message is sent by postmaster, as shown below:
