Recently sent emails from any of my email addresses with ntlworld and virginmedia were not received by the recipient. This however righted itself after known problems.
Now I am unable send and to 'get messages' within my email client Thunderbird. I keep getting a window popping up to tell me the pop and smtp have invalid certificates and cannot be verified.
I believe that this is connected to my Avast antivirus which is issuing this warning.
What is strange is that this is only happening with my email addresses on my laptop and not on my desktop. Both run Thunderbird and Avast [both updated] which may indicate a problem with Avast.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Whoooooooooops - sorry for very late reply. I dont get email notifications despite ticking the box.
I seem to remember that I ignored the warning regarding the certificates - exact action I took has alas been forgotten.
