For the past day I'm seeing intermittent errors on all of my pop accounts when trying to read mail.
Here is the exact message:
Task 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk (3) - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR Invalid Backend.'
The problem doesn't occur with every read, and it seems to randomly effect different mail addresses.
I haven't made any recent changes within the past few days, just the recent update of the manual email settings a week or two ago.
Is this a know issue or are there ongoing email problems?

Strangely enough, I've just experienced exactly the same problem, word for word.
Seems to affect blueyonder.co.uk client mailboxes but not virginmedia.com.
And it's random.
Weird eh ?

I'm ntlworld.com and I have had the same problem.....
This is obviously a big problem.
WHY OH WHY couldnt they leave well alone instead of 'migrating' us all. Our box went wrong this weekend for no apparent reason and we had to have a new one. What astonished me was that we get a next day appointment. Now call me cynical but we have never had that level of service from Virgin before. I think they know more than they are telling us.

Mail server pop.ntlworld.com responded: Invalid Backend.
same problem here too started today. i hope they are going to fix it soon
i use thunderbird so it doesnt seem to be email client related as googling throws out a few differetn ones.
i also notice this has been going on since last year in some cases, myself i only had it a short while ago

Hi All,
We had some mail issues earlier in the week which have now cleared. If anyone is still having problems can you post again and we will investigate this further for you.

Hi Lee,
I've had a whole catalogue of errors for the last couple of weeks with my blueyonder account and today, for the first time I've also had an "invalid backend" error.
I haven't been receiving emails through my Thunderbird accounts. My accounts show that I've "received mail", but the messages are nowhere to be found in the inboxes, so I've had to check my webmail and I've found them there.
Also I've sent emails to friends with Yahoo accounts and althought they've shown up in the inbox as inbox(1) they haven't shown up in the inbox panel at all so they haven't been able to read them or even discover who they're from. I now have to follow up emails with a phone call!
I changed the settings in Thunderbird to the "secure" ports for both pop3 and smtp as instructed, but this just seems to make matters worse.
My email account worked perfectly before the "improvements" and I need an account I can rely on, but clearly, Virgin Media can't supply me with this at the moment.
I'd appreciate some help.
I posted my problem a few days ago on the forum but haven't had any help with that either.
Thanks

Hi, I'm having the same problems today that I had last wednesday. In outlook, I'm being asked for a password. Problem was sorted out last wednesday and last night it came back. I have an ntl email address, I've checked all the settings, everything is fine. I'm seeing no problems on the service status page this time round although it would seem that I'm not the only one encountering problems.
