I have an on-goinh issue with IMAP mail.
Set it up on the iPad, all working fine for 7 days.
Recently, been offline for two days, and then started receiving mail again (without any changes to the account settings) suggesting an issue at the server end.
Back offlline since 03/1/12, and I have checked all the settings, inc port number and SSL - I have also reset the password just in case. Email still working on main PC via outlook (POP3 and SMTO) but the IMAP not working.
Tried calling tech support - on hold for 27 minutes, only to be told that they would not help as it was an iPad. Would not listen to the fact that I did not want set-up assistance, just wanted to know if there was an IMAP issue. They put me through to the digital home team, who offered me a chargeable service - COME ON VIRGIN, this is a poor show.
Has anyone else been experiencing IMAP issues with a previously working setup? Can anyone from Virgin get back to me on this poor customer service ?

You say you checked the IMAP settings, so I guess thay are OK, but if you want another opinion then say what they are. If you post your complete config screens (hide first part of your address) that would be better, together with any error message.
IMAP is working OK over here.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have enclosed some screenshots below - just in case I am missing some setting (more than possible!!)
Can anyone see anything wrong on the settings? I have tried imap4.blueyonder.co.uk and imap.blueyonder.co.uk as the BlueYonder pages do mention both addresses. IMAP and SMTP both set to SSL and port numbers changed to the recommended settings.
If anyone can spot where I am going wrong, that would be great.

try changing your password via My VM. The new password must comply with:
I know it is daft, especially since your password works via My VM/webmail, but it often helps. eg:
EDIT - Oh, I see you already did that.
Give up with imap.blueyonder.co.uk, and try using the virginmedia server instead
If sending is OK, then leave the smtp alone, and change only the IMAP.

Thanks for looking at that for me. I will be calling Virgin again tonight, as I am sure there is nothing wrong with the settings. I had thought that perhaps Virgin themselves provided tech support via the forums - seems not. I do appricate your help though.

Glad you got it fixed, and glad the VM tech gave the same excellent advice I offered above

Have exactlt the same issue. E-Mail on IPAD2 via IMAP fine until Friday 3rd Feb 2012. No e-mails received since. E-Mail client on IPAD reports IMAP server not responding. No change made on IPAD.
Virgin Media say they can fix it but want to chard via the Digital Home Help line!!!
A few weeks back Virgin retired all the bluyonder FQDNs for mail servesr and my mail that had been working for years stopped. No notice of this change given!!!
Com on VirginMedia... What have you chnaged to stop the IMAP working???
If anyone klnows how to fix this PLEASE respond..
I tried using POP3 as suggested below but not sure I did everything right as it still reported IMPAP server not responding so still was tru=ying to use IMAP.

Some weeks back VirginMedia retired all the blueyonder FQDNs and all blueyonder account setting stopped working...
I had to change my main PC client to use pop3.virginmedia.com on port 995 for incomming and port 465 for outgoing.
My IPAD was working fine with imap.virginmedia.com on port 993 until Friady 3rd Feb 2012 when it just stopped working and I can't get it to receive mails at all now.. sending via pop3 is still ok.
Had same issue of VirginMedia wanting to charge me to fix their change!!!

OK - so I had ignored the advice to rest my passord as I knew my current password already adhered to the rules... Then I thought "Why Not Try?"...
Lo and behold.. after resetting my password via my account on My VirginMedia and putting the new one in to the settings on the IPAD all my mail is working on the IPAD again!!!
Thanks VirginMedia for the really poor technical servive you are giving your long term customers!!!
Thanks to all in this forum who posted both the issue and the ideas to resolve it!
