Error message against deleted secondary email address

Some time again, we created a secondary email account on our main Virginmedia account.  It wasn't used and so was automatically deleted by Virginmedia.  However, whenever someone sends an email to the main email address, they receive an error message telling them that the old deleted address is no longer available - which causes great confusion.  How can we stop that?  Thanks!

Welcome to our Forum, thanks for joining us Smiley Happy

From what you've described I'd guess that you may have set up mail forwarding (to the old, unused address). To check if this is the case please do the following:

  • Log in to webmail
  • Click on the system menu icon, top right - Settings
  • Click on auto forward
  • Delete the email address that is there and uncheck the enabled box
