Email account issues and emails delayed

Hi,

I have been for a number of weeks experiencing problems in logging into my email account - ntlworld.com). Sometimes it takes several attempts to get in (3 circles going round for ever, then says I cannot access). Other times its fine. I access via the main internet page and not through a saved bookmark.

Sometimes when I'm in the account, its slow, and if I reply to an email the page freezes......again its not all the time

Other programmes and internet pages all seem fine, its just the virgin media account that's problematic..

Also this week I have had issue with one person that I'm aware of sending me emails which have got through 24 hours after they were sent to me.

Any ideas please?

I did ring in and was told to try another browser, bit it did the same on that as well...

I think you have two issues here which I will deal with separately.

1. Poor performance of web mail. Lots of others are seeing this and VM are investigating. No resolution yet. No idea when it will be resolved. There may be a temporary solution. Use CtrlF5 to refresh the page when it gets sticky and that normally alleviates the problem. You can also try the standard advice of clearing your browser cache and cookies which can help.

2. Delayed receipt. We have had reports that VM's practice of rate limiting (controlling by delaying  the timing of acceptance of mail from servers it thinks are or may be sending spam) has gone awry again. You need to tell us more. In particular please would you post a header from one of the incoming delayed mails with all personal details edited out - that means names before the @symbol in e-mail addresses. We can then have a look. And I'll get the Forum Team to take a look if it is rate limiting.

@Jen_A - you asked to see examples of this

My heart sank when I saw the server involved in this. There has been a days delay between the server sending the mail on to VM and VM servers receiving/accepting. But the server is the one that 1 to 1 uses and we have seen aggressive rate limiting of this server before. Do you want your guys to take a look please?

@USAR607 - you will see that I have asked VM Forum Team to look at this. We have seen it before. We all thought it had been dealt with. But I suspect the issue has returned.

Welcome to our Forum and huge apologies for the email issues affecting you currently. The intermittent webmail access issue is something that we are already aware of and are working to resolve. Refreshing the webmail page should allow access.

The other problem, that of excessive mail delays, is something that we can query with the LG email engineers. Please reply to my PM (purple envelope icon, top right of page) and I'll get this matter escalated.

Yes, I'm still getting delayed emails too. I thought it had rectified itself, especially after the issue was flagged up on here as being resolved. However one of my email clients happened to be set to show emails by their date sent, rather than the date received and so have noticed some unread emails popping up way down my inbox amongst read emails. Header of what I believe to be an example here. It looks to have been sent on 30/1 at 22:10 but no delivered to me until 1/2 at 01:21 (27 hours later):
