Duplicate e-mails

My e-mail account recently seems to be presenting me with duplicate e-mails. This has happened not only with incoming e-mails but also for those in my drafts and trash. The number of duplicates varies, sometimes only producing two but yesterday there were so many that the number of unread e-mails in my inbox went from about 30 to 1030.

Does anybody know what is causing this and what I can do to stop it?

Hi RS63, 

 

Welcome to the forums, I'm sorry to see that you have been having trouble with duplicate emails. 

  • Do you access your emails from various sources, if so do you have any forwarding set up on any of them? 
  • Are you using an email client?
  • If so are you using IMAP or POP? 

Once we have a bit more information we will be able to investigate further.

Hi Emma,

There is forwarding set up to one of my other e-mail addresses. I have been viewing them through the virgin media website (which always seems to be very slow?) I'm afraid I don't know whether this is IMAP or POP, although when I go into my settings there is an option to ''change IMAP folder subscription" so possibly IMAP?

What happens if you remove the forwarding does the duplication stop?
