Cannot compose outgoing email

I cannot compose an outgoing email - the screen is greyed out and looks as if it is constantly trying to connect.  There was a brief flash of a message which said something about internal server failure - but did not stay on screen long enough to read it.  I have been using email via my laptop for years - up to 9th March, when this problem started.  Several times I have saved the failed messages as Drafts, and then deleted - but they are still on screen.

And how do I report this to Virgin Media?
