Blueyonder Email

Hi,

I'm aware that there have been issues with all of the virginmedia associated email systems over the weekend, but my service status page now claims that all problems have been resolved - however I don't find this to be the case.

I have a @blueyonder.co.uk email address I have been using for ~10 years.

Since Friday (25th March) I have been unable to access my email, and when trying I get the following errors:

Webmail: Tried logging in via http://mail.blueyonder.co.uk/

Browser: Firefox 3.6.16

Error message:

You've entered the wrong username or password. Passwords are case-sensitive, so please check your caps lock isn't on.

Tip for blueyonder.co.uk usernames: You can sign in with the primary email address used on any of your mailboxes.  More info about mailboxes.
If you're not sure what your primary email address is for a mailbox, you can check it here.

Thunderbird Mail Client (v 3.1.9)

Accessing via imap. Was working fine previously.

Double checked server settings this morning at http://help.virginmedia.com/system/selfservice.controller?CONFIGURATION=1002&PARTITION_ID=1&TIMEZONE...

Error message:

Login to server imap4.blueyonder.co.uk failed.

Android smartphone (OS version 2.2)

Worked previously, no settings changed.

Error message:

Login failed.

Mail2web.com

Takes a very long time to deliver the error message:

Error : Login Failure. Please check your email address and re-enter your password.

Also unable to login to "My Virgin Media".

As far as I know I have tried all suggestions that should work to no avail. Can someone please shed some light on what's going wrong?

Many thanks,

Will Eborall

Re: Blueyonder Email

did you try checking that you are logging in with the correct @blueyonder.co.uk alias (using https://ipauth.virginmedia.com/SSO_BLUEYONDER/servlet/StartupServlet linked to in that message)

Re: Blueyonder Email

I did yes, it supplies the error:

We are unable to confirm the alias and password submitted.
Please make sure the alias and password are correct, and re-try. Go to virginmedia.com/myvirginmedia if you need a password reminder.

And I'm unable to login to myvirginmedia.

I know the alias and password are right though. I've been using them for ~10 years and haven't changed anything.

Re: Blueyonder Email

do you recall the original mailbox names? They would be along the lines of:

ab123c4567@blueyonder.co.uk

ab123c4567_2@blueyonder.co.uk

ab123c4567_3@blueyonder.co.uk

ab123c4567_4@blueyonder.co.uk

ab123c4567_5@blueyonder.co.uk

each of these would then have up to 3 aliases associated, and these are your everyday email addresses.

The problem is that under the new system, only the first created alias for each mailbox can be used to log in to webmail.

If the thing has got confused, possibly you can still persuade it to recognise the mailbox names using the alias checker. Just a small hope.

[ Edited ]

I remember my blueyonder username which was of the format abcd12345. Is this what you mean?

I've given that a go with the alias checker to no avail, nor with webmail :/

Thanks for the advice.

are you able to access you your emails using www.mail2web.com  , or - if you have one - using a hotmail or gmail account?

Re: Blueyonder Email

well you are ckrewed then - somehow your password has become corrupted. I think the only answer is to phone and pray - they won't do password resets over the forum.

Re: Blueyonder Email

**bleep** it :smileysad:

So it's unlikely to magically start working again once all the other email problems get solved?
