ADDING EMAIL LINK

I am using Windows 8/Chrome and have a virgin media account and using a desktop computer

I need to add an external email so that I can use it and send emails (external music society)

They have sent me the following details, but I have no idea how to start

Incoming server: pop.iomartmail.com

Incoming server port: 110

Outgoing server: smtp.iomartmail.com

Outgoing server port: 587

Can anybody help please

Thanks

Tim

Re: ADDING EMAIL LINK

You would be better to decide on ONE email address you will use for correspondence for your new role, preferably NOT the Virgin Media one, but the existing Gmail account.

Thats simply because your Virgin Media account is tied to your VM subscribed services. If you leave VM you lose access to that account.

In which case, you just log into Gmail from your web browser and  handle things from their system.

Re: ADDING EMAIL LINK

Are you wanting to pick up and send your mails using a stand alone email client?

Or is webmail (picking up and sending on line) sufficient?

Re: ADDING EMAIL LINK

I'm not sure I know.

My current virginmedia email & gmail comes through on one email account.

I am the new membership secretary of a music society so will need to be able to send and receive emails from the members.

I'm not really sure as to the best (and easiest way) to proceed as it's not something I've done before.

Re: ADDING EMAIL LINK

Just for the record - while you can connect to pop.iomartmail.com on 110 - I recommend using port 995 with SSL likewise when connecting to 587 make sure you are using StartTLS - SSL on some clients TLS on Outlook

Connecting over 110 is bad as it exposes your password to snoopers.
