VM why not offer us a gaming package??

Virgin Media,

have you noticed that a huge percentage of your market is built up of avid gamers from all platforms? And by the look of it most of them complain on here about the poor perfromance!

as you conned us into joing VM with advertisements of how perfect your gaming speeds are for us to use (I have noticed those adverts I used in a recent complaint email as proof of you nullifying your contractual obligations to me have vanished from the main site now too!?), why not attempt to fix the problem we haveb introducing a gamers only package?

Myself and many others all use you for gaming first and internet useage second. I could care less if facebook and youtube took a little longer to load as long as my gaming experience during the evening and at weekends was what it used to be like, FUN!

The available packages have been oversold. The system cannot cope. So instead of using a bit of our cash to keep us happy, and keep us as customers, you put in weak fixes which mask the problem, they dont fix it.

You have introduced this P2P traffic scheme in order to alleviate problems, it clearly increases the problems as almost all the games we play work on us relying to connect successfully to our peers.

And how is the peer chosen, its the person who has the fastest connection. So in two very fast swipes you give us the advantage then immediately take it away.

I have NEVER complained so much about a product or to a company in my life as much as I have done with VM in the last year.

Im sure myself and almost all (if not all) the gamers who use VM as their ISPs would take a massive hit in download speed to to have a stable connection for gaming. I have asked this many times on the phone to people at the head office and heard nothing back from them.

Just imagine how many more customers you would take on if you had an option soley made available to the gaming community here in the uk.

Ok if the who game and want fast download speed didnt want it, fine. They can stay on their connections and suffer. But at least it would stop the constant complaining as they would have an option to change or stay.

And yes I know we cannot have it perfect, and it never will be. I accept that. But it can be better, and it can be made better if you only accept that there is a problem, admit it and do something about it.

Im probably flogging a dead horse here, but it needs to be said. If things havent improved by April next year im off, and as im sure, so are many many others.

Just think of it this way, if you get in a taxi and ask him if he can drive you 50 miles down the road, and he says YES of course I can. You ask him how much? He says £50 mate upfont. Ok fine. He drives you 45 miles down the road and stops and makes you get out but takes the money and drives off. You would be pretty hacked off wouldnt you.

Re: VM why not offer us a gaming package??

I agree completly.  I was conned into the false promise of a better gaming connection with 50meg so I imagine so many others have been to.

I would sacrifice speed for a stable gaming connection.

As it stands I will not be a VM customer much longer

**bleep** right, instead of best effort delivery we can be put on pritority and for a trade off reduce the connection to 10Mb down? The service as it stands is SUCH a joke its unbearable.

Finally! someone thats on the same wavelength as me :smileyhappy: a gamers package would be perfect. Allthough i don't like the thought of youtube running slow, thats the main site i use! I wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway, my parents pay for the wi-fi here :smileysad:

Re: VM why not offer us a gaming package??

100%agree

I cannot play battlefield 3 or any other online game for that matter right now, the lag is beyond a joke, you call customer support or technical and they say, there is nothing wrong, it must be your computer? hang on I'm using the Xbox360, oh we don't support that!

Guy who sold us the package = "You will love our service, especially since I see you have the Xbox360, do you game online much"

Us "Yes we do, we have 4 console, what kind of package would you recommend for us to game online"?

Him "Your looking at 20 to 50 meg, that should be ample, and because we use fiber optic you will love the speeds"

My connection has been brilliant, right up until an engineer cut us off on the box outside while he did work, since then we have high latency and OMG lag!!!!

Re: VM why not offer us a gaming package??

They cannot offer a gamimg package, becuase that would mean them investing in the infrastructure of the network! But that is not going to happen in the near future, especially while they are cramming as much bandwidth as possible to charge more!. The network will never be stable enough to game on without problems while they continue with this approach. Looking like ADSL2 for me, not massive but good and stable!

Unfortunately VM are not very good (officially the worst in a lot of cases) for latencey when it comes to gaming.
