I have just upgraded from the Virgin 20 mbs to 30 mbs service and have installed the new Virgin Netgear Superhub. My HP laserjet 6L printer was working OK before the Superhub was installed, but is no longer working. I had it connected to a D-Link printserver and a Netgear network switch.
The printserver can connect with printers via its IP address and I configured the printer to connect in this way, that is via a device URI. Part of the printer URI is the printserver IP address. I had trouble in the past with the printserver IP changing for no apparent reason resulting in the printer not printing. I got some advice on this forum at the time about reserving an IP address in the router configuration to prevent it changing and that seemed to solve the problem.
I have looked at the new Superhub's settings at its online configuration page and I noticed that the printserver address is listed as having a new and different IP address. I have just visited this new printserver IP address configuration page and the Laserjet is reported to be "online".
So it seems I have to reconfigure the printer device URI in Windows 7 to get it to work. But I want to prevent the printserver IP changing again. I can't see anywhere is the Superhub's online configuration page where I can reserve the new printserver's new IP address. Can anyone point me to the place where this can be done?
Thanks.

to do this if you goto http://192.168.0.1 username admin
password changeme, click on advanced settings, choose LAN settings
on the advanced section you need to enter the details of your printer
eg the MAC address and the current IP lease and press Add

Many thanks for that. It seems to have worked.

Hi,
I've tried to follow your advice, but maybe I've not quite understood:
eg the MAC address and the current IP lease and press Add
to do this if you goto http://192.168.0.1 username admin
password changeme, click on advanced settings, choose LAN settings
on the advanced section you need to enter the details of your printer
I'm on Advanced - LAN IP and am trying to enter the MAC and IP of my printer. However, the configuration page gives either a self-assigned IP (169.n.n.n) or unassigned (0.0.0.0), and entering those as the IP address gets the message "out of range". What am I doing wrong?

The 169.254.xx.xx range of IP addresses are assigned by Windows when it cannot get an ip address from the DHCP server.
If you are setting up a reserved IP I think it might have to be in the DHCP server range which is shown on the same page and should be 192.168.0.xx

I use a Mac, but, yes, 169. addresses are self-assigned. But I tried 192.168.0.8, and either get the message that it is busy, trying again in 30 seconds, or can't connect to printer (HP deskjet 6127). I checked the system profiler, and the IP of the printer is 192.168.0.8. However, I can't ping the address, and can't access the printer utility on it (both of which I could do when it had a self-assigned address). Fortunately, the printer is USB as well, which works fine, but I just would like to understand how to get the printer working via ethernet.

Hi, I too have the problem of my OKI printer not working after upgrading to the Superhub. I have followed the advice given regarding entering the mac address and ip address in the IP LAN areaa of advanced settings but still no joy. Any more ideas anyone. Thanks in advance.

Well, after many hours of trying different configurations I came to the conclusion that the Superhub was the problem. I switched to modem mode and reconnected my Cisco router and everything works again! Thought I would let people know in case they get a similar problem.

Got my mac working by changing the IP on the printer to one within range, the range in the modem is set tothe below, changed printer from 192.168.2.105 to 192.168.0.105 .... it was the (2) that was throwing it out...needed changing to a (0)
Starting IP Address 192.168.0.2 Ending IP Address 192.168.0.254
