Re: Good news if your net goes down

"A consultation on today’s proposals is open until 5 June 2017 at 5pm, and we will publish our decision statement around the end of the year."

I suppose we'll just have to wait to see how much it gets watered down.

Re: Good news if your net goes down

Wonder if this would affect long term contention issues also, as they claim its a fault and give a fault reference so for instance my partners account has been slow for 18 months and they keep putting the review date back, its currently may now, would that be classed as a fault to be compensated or would it fall under the discount she gets?

the compensation would probably be worth more lol as long as more than a tenner a month

Speed issues aren't covered.

Page 17/18 of the full Ofcom document says they considered this, but "we stand by our initial assessment that automatic compensation is unlikely to be an appropriate remedy to help improve the speed of a consumer’s access line or actual throughput speed. We therefore do not propose to assess the case for intervention with regard to service degradation involving broadband speeds at this point".

Re: Good news if your net goes down

£30 missed appointments ...lmao that will teach Vm not to play with people whom actually have jobs!

It covers a lot if you look into it before commenting and moaning.

Speed issues are already covered...its called opening your mouth on the phone and not a forum and asking for loss of service...not hard.

Who's moaning? I think Ofcom have gone with the right approach.

Re: Good news if your net goes down

LMAO- no great surprise...

In response to Ofcom’s plans, BT, Sky and Virgin Media have jointly put forward a draft proposal to introduce automatic compensation through a draft voluntary industry code of practice. At this stage, we do not consider that this proposal sufficiently meets our concerns, when quality of service falls short.

So basically it will be the usual OFCOM stylee. Reject the first proposal then accept a watered down 2nd or 3rd draft...

It would be nice to think they actually get some swingers and take ISP's to task, especially over the length of time faults are allowed to persist...but lets not hold our collective breath...
