Can you believe this??

Some company in America has actually created a foodstuff called Soylent??

https://www.soylent.com

Why didn't they go the whole hog and call it Soylent Green instead. - After all any good sci-fi freak knows what that is.

Seriously - did they not stop to think before they named it?

Re: Can you believe this??

I've just sent off a suggestion.

Hi

I was a bit taken aback by the colour of Soylent. Have you considered other colours for the product?

Soylent Orange and Yellow would be interesting variants. I believe Soylent Green might be even more popular.

Also will this be available in the UK anytime soon?

Will let you know if I get a reply Smiley Very Happy

contains >>>>  Vitamins & Minerals + Oat flour + Sunflower Oil and wait for it >>Brown Rice Protein

Smiley SurprisedCat Tongue

If those are NOT the actual ingredients used then its false representation/trade descriptionsSmiley LOL

Re: Can you believe this??

The algal oil is green, so there ya go...  Wonder what Charlton Heston would have made of it if he were still alive...

Re: Can you believe this??

The person who replied evidently is not a Sci-Fi buff either

Here's their reply.

Lauren S. (Soylent)

Aug 31, 09:10

Hi Timothy,

Thanks for contacting us.

We appreciate this very helpful feedback! Though we have not explored the possibility of different colors of Soylent, we will share your suggestions with the appropriate department on our end, and will take them into consideration in the future.

Due to the unanticipated complexities of shipping Soylent abroad, we've had to temporarily put foreign sales of Soylent outside of the US and Canada on hold. We are working hard to remedy this with haste!

I was thinking they could have a different colour for every day of the week - remember Tuesday is Soylent Green day.

However if they didn't get the reference to film before - I'm guessing they definitely won't be getting that reference either.  LOL

Personally - A nutritious liquid meal for those who haven't got the time to prepare a proper meal.

It'll be food pills next.  Less bulky and even less time to down then a shake.

Re: Can you believe this??

At least Lauren S actually replied and quickly compared to some companies.

She has to be careful not to upset the Soylent executives and their $$ plans

Lauren S is probably relying on a standard formula reply to cover all events

and she is likely to have a film "knowledge" stretching to what is in front of

her nose released in the last 6 months.

Anything of the CLASSIC GOLDEN PERIOD between 1952 - 1979 is

VERBOTEN or FORBIDDEN to herSmiley MadSmiley FrustratedSmiley LOL

Thankfully I am the other way around with the

VERBOTEN FORBIDEN=Recent (dated) after 1979  Smiley Very Happy

I was just watching last night another CULT sci fi from 1968 :

THE GREEN SLIME  1968  LUCIANA PALUZZI HeartHeart

Robert Horton ( Dancing With Luciana)   Richard Jaeckel

in SCI FI Classic Smiley Very Happy

Re: Can you believe this??

I'd hardly call the Green Slime a Classic

Brilliant title song though - but the movie itself was so cheesy.
