Cabling on drive

Hi, I had VM installed on 28Dec ...pretty happy with it generally except the cabling.  Have a gravelled drive with concrete underneath and the cabling pretty much went on top instead of being buried.  I was out at the time so my wife never queried it.  Am I expecting too much? should they have drilled down and buried it? ...first time trying to use the VM help pages and somewhat frustrating you can't email them

They won't dig in to concrete to bury a residential cable because they would likely need heavy duty equipment the standard engineers dont carry, they might also need to seek permission from local authorities etc depending on property ownership, gravel seems like a pointless place to bury a cable on its own and personally i would have said to route it alongside the drive out of the way, not sure there is a great deal that can be done, is the cable actively in the way or is this purely a cosmetic concern?

Re: Cabling on drive

Hi steviejb2015

I appreciate you getting in touch about the cable routing and a warm welcome to the community too Smiley Happy

With every installation we ask the customers to sign a checklist once the work has been completed to say they are happy with the work so if this at the time has been signed we would have been under the impression that the work was satisfactory.

If once the work was completed you wished to raise this with our installation teams we then have a further 28 days after the installation in which to raise this with them to see if they can pop back out to rectify an issue or look for an alternative solution.

If the drive is gravel, how deep does this go? If it's more than a few inches then it's possible the cabling could be buried under this providing it's not going to be driven on as this would potentially damage the cabling?

As mentioned above, we would not be able to dig down under concrete on a driveway unless we had booked a specialist crew to attend the installation.

If you feel that an alternative routing would be a better option for you then please get in touch with the teams via 0345 454 1111 where they can look at arranging this for you.

Let us know if you need anything else.
