Cabinet open near school, electric shock hazard!

Firstly, this is not just a post to ask for the cabinet to be closed - this needs to be FIXED!

This is a desperate plea as I have reported this what must be every month over the past year - to this forum, to the phone number on the cabinet, to Fix my street, to the local council and to customer service and yet STILL this cabinet is insecure.  It seems Virgin Media simply just do not care.

I now have a daily walk past the cabinet, as pretty much every other day the cabinet is open.  Today it is open again.  This cabinet is on a footpath route to the local school.  The cabinet is marked HIGH VOLTAGE and the cabinet does not properly lock shut and is open most days, fully exposed to curious childen, the elements, vandalism and dogs urinating.  No wonder my internet connection is poor.

I am beyond annoyed at the lack of action by Virgin Media.  Someone needs to come and fix this cabinet properly so that it LOCKS SECURELY.  No don't just send someone to try and close it, book someone to order the parts and replace the lock or the cabinet!  If it 'looks' shut its still broken as a few days later its busted open again.

Since Virgin can't be bothered or are just leaving it open themselves, it is possible that a good natured resident has taken it upon themselves to close the doors, and even partially get the lock to catch to hold them shut, but it needs repairing.

Virgin Media get your act together and sort it out!  Take ownership of this problem and sort it !

It is HERE google maps link

Re: Cabinet open near school, electric shock hazard!

After being more "on foot" over the festive period, I noticed that even more of the Virgin Media cabinets are in awful condition.

I have reported these all on the cabinet reporting page, but even the initial one I reported still hasn't been fixed, and to be honest all of them in the RG4 area pretty much need TLC in one way or another.  Is there any plan to actually bring these up to a decent standard?  The cabinet in the photo with doors open is just round the corner from Caversham Park Primary School, that can't be safe.

Warn school heads that children are in danger of being electrocuted and tip off the local paper, TV etc.

I'm surprised the equipment hasn't been shorted out by the rain.

Re: Cabinet open near school, electric shock hazard!

Its a shame you take care of VM Green Boxes than VM do. Local Paper would be a good start. The area manager for this area should be fired.

Email the CEO of VM and screen shot as much as possible. Someone is FAILING BIG TIME.

Luckily some of the cabinets shown are unpowered.
