Ranks appear under your username. Like badges, they’re mostly meant to be a bit of fun but they can also be useful. Ranks help community newcomers to see who is well established among the community, and who isn’t (yet). That’s useful context when you’re looking at replies to a question you’ve posted.

Community members progress through the ranks by logging in, posting, commenting, giving and receiving kudos, and marking and making 'helpful answers'. Progress isn’t necessarily linear, activity counts for a lot when you first join us.
And we’ve added extra hero ranks (not shown here) for our long-standing community members to try and unlock.
One more thing, our Community team, Superusers, and special guests have their community role next to their name instead of a rank.
