how do i rename the router and change password?

hi my router finally arrived today and have set it up i was just wondering how do i change the router name and password ? x

Hi

Log into the Netgear router

Select Wireless setup

Change name (SSID)

Apply

go to maintenance

Set password

Type in old password

Type in new password twice

Apply.

the login details for your router (assuming you have the same netgear as me)

address:   192.168.0.1

user: admin

Pass: (your virgin media pass)

On the left bar click "Wireless settings" and change the SSID (Broadcasting name). You can also change the wireless encryption standard and passphrase/key here, but make sure you write it down safely if you are changing it via your wireless connection

I assume you meant the wireless name and password?

on the address bar go to 192.168.0.1

if this doesnt work try www.routerlogin.net

username is either virgin or admin

password is password (standard in routers unless changed by user)

click wireless settings on ssid type a name for your router.

on security options click wpa psk (wifi protected access pre shared key)

underneath a security encryption box will appear type in an 8 character password

and apply at the bottom of the page.

some of the new netgear dg834gv5 routers sometimes need a reset before setting up the wireless should this fail and you need to reset the router id call virgin!!
